Lago Atitlan - Not Too Shabby

I'm feeling better, much much better now. I spent the weekend in San Pedro on Lago Atitlan. Beautiful. Lago Atitlan is a massive volcanic lake that's a little like Lake Como only with four volcanoes on the edge. I took in the sights, ate really great food, and rode on a boat twice. I kept thinking that if there's a krakken in Guatemala, it would be in Lago Atitlan. I might buy a finca and start a Lago Atitlan Architeuthis research center. Or I could just come back to the US... who knows. It was a good weekend though. I'm back in Xela now and I just filled up on really good pizza. The pizza hit the spot after the 4 hour chicken bus ride it took to get back here. I'm chicken bussed out for a little while. It's an experiance for sure, but I'm too big to share a school bus seat with two other people. Next time I have a long ride it's first class all the way.

I'm ready for my next week of spanish classes. I'm going to have a lot of conversations, and practice my self silly. I will be the spanish master.

I'd like to start a poll about what I should do when I finish spanish school in two weeks.. there are a few options:
-keep going to spanish school in Xela or somewhere else, get really good
-travel around Central America solo/with people I meet at school until the end of May when I'm planning on meeting other people in Mexico
-Come back to the US for a while (this could mean DC or Denver) and apply to schools/generally figure out my life before the next leg of my travels.
-mystery option 4? Suggestions?

so for those of you who don't know what you're going to do with your life, don't worry. I don't know what I'm going to do with my month.

i say... more time at school... unless you think traveling around central america would also be like spanish school. but being fluent in a language is like riding a bike, its this tool you will always have. and when are you going to be back in xela for more spanish school later? im amazed at youre instant comfortable-ness there. i mean, there have been no, i miss my mom and people who speak english entries. wow.

Ian- I know it didn't take you 6 years to figure all that you. You've always thought I was the best. Thanks, I think you're the best too. I have a scarf for you when I get home - dark green. I fully plan on staying on your couch.

Mama V- Spanish is hard! and I do miss my mom and english speaking and all my friends at home. I miss it all a lot. So much. I didn't ever plan on moving back to Denver, now I don't know.

hello miss!
my recomendation is not to come back yet. you have much more awsome things to do right now than figure out the rest of your life. I would travel around with your new friends (not alone, you're much braver than me if you do) or else I would stay there and work on my spanish! good luck! and hopefully I'lll see you soon!

You have to stay there. You will regret it forever if you don't and you know it. Then, now keep in mind this is for selfish reasons, come back to Denver!

I would travel around to learn more Spanish. Voice of experience... you learn more when you are forced to use a second language for survival. It's nice to be in class, but you'll acutally USE the subjunctive in the real world. But be very very careful if you are going to travel alone, young lady!!

okay missy, here's the deal
1) i concur, you are awesome. not that this is not news to me.
2) stay in central america atleast for a little while. go traveling with friends (i will just be scared for you if you go it alone) or stay in the guat before mexico.i say, don't come back until after your mexico excursion. if you come back, you'll be dreaming about experiencing traveling again. don't let this opportunity pass you by! you are going to have so much fun and learn so much about the world/yourself.
then, come back to colorado while you figure out where you really want to be. if it's here, then great. if it's not here, well, we'll put you in a cardboard box and ducktape it shut to make you change your mind. just kidding. we wouldn't do that to you.
it's all good babe, i don't know what i want to do or where i want to be either.
lots o' love,
the hammer
